About My Teaching
My teaching approach is grounded in the belief that writing and research are both technical and social acts, requiring collaboration, adaptability, and critical engagement with emerging technologies. I design courses that prepare students to navigate professional communication with confidence by integrating discipline-specific writing, problem-solving, and technological engagement. Through project-based learning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and structured reflection, I help students develop the rhetorical awareness and practical skills necessary for academic and professional success. My feedback approach prioritizes agency and inclusion, incorporating multimodal feedback and student-driven course adjustments to create a responsive and supportive learning environment.
I have taught Business Writing, Writing for the Professions, and First-Year Composition (including courses for L2 learners) in in-person, hybrid, and online formats. Additionally, I developed UX 101: Introduction to User Experience in collaboration with Claire Lauer, PhD, introducing students to UX principles, research methods, and design thinking. Across all my courses, I integrate real-world applications and technological engagement, incorporating tools such as research databases, collaborative writing platforms, and generative AI discussions to enhance students' professional and digital literacy.
